On November 18, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said almost half of the country’s electrical system had been knocked out

KIEV, November 28. /TASS/. Emergency power outages were reported across Ukraine this morning, the country’s state grid operator Ukrenergo said.

"As of 10:00 am (11:00 am Moscow time) on November 28, emergency blackouts were enacted across Ukraine amid a soaring deficit in electricity. The rising deficit was caused by emergency outages at several power plants. At the same time, [power] consumption has been on the rise amid worsening weather conditions," Ukrenergo wrote on its Telegram channel.

A 27% electricity deficit was reported.

On November 18, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said almost half of the country’s electrical system had been knocked out. On November 23, Andrey Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office, said that the country’s power outages could last weeks.
