FSB foils subversive act by Ukrainian Neo-Nazis’ supporters near Voronezh

Upon an attempt to apprehend the ringleader and the two accomplices, the latter put up armed resistance to FSB operatives and were eliminated by retaliatory measures

MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has foiled an act of sabotage at military and energy facilities in the Voronezh Region plotted by supporters of Ukrainian nationalists, eliminating the ringleader and two accomplices upon their detention, the FSB press office told TASS on Wednesday.

"The Federal Security Service has foiled an attempted subversive act by members of a clandestine cell of Ukrainian nationalist ideology supporters at military and energy facilities on the territory of the Voronezh Region. Upon an attempt to apprehend the ringleader and the two accomplices at the time they were retrieving terror means from a cache they had equipped in the outskirts of Voronezh, the latter put up armed resistance to FSB operatives and were eliminated by retaliatory measures," the press office said.

There are no casualties among civilians and security forces, the FSB press office said.

FSB operatives searched the places of the terrorists’ residence and inspected the scene of the incident, seizing two ready-to-use improvised explosives and components for their production, bladed weapons and firearms, and also conspiracy communications devices. The FSB’s investigative division has opened a criminal case on counts of part 1 of article 30, part 1 of article 281 of Russian Criminal Code ("Sabotage"), the press office said.
