FSB detains suspected member of nationalist battalion who tried to enter Crimea

It has been established that in December 2015 the suspect voluntarily joined the illegal armed group Noman Chelebidzhikhan Battalion

SIMFEROPOL, November 18. /TASS/. Russia’s federal security FSB office for Crimea and Sevastopol has opened a criminal case against a resident of the Kherson Region, suspected of participating in the activities of the illegal armed group Noman Chelebidzhikhan Battalion, who was detained while trying to enter the peninsula.

"The investigative department of the federal security service FSB for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has initiated a criminal case against a resident of the Kherson Region, born in 1987, suspected of participating in the activities of an illegal armed group operating on the territory of a foreign state for purposes detrimental to the interests of Russia (part 2 of article 208 of the Criminal Code). It has been established that in December 2015 the suspect voluntarily joined the illegal armed group Noman Chelebidzhikhan Battalion. As the battalion’s member he carried weapons while guarding the battalion and searched individuals and motor vehicles," the FSB office said in a news release on Friday.
