Discrimination against Russian culture split Ukraine, says Kremlin official

Magomedsalam Magomedov stressed that Russia has a completely different national policy

MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Infringement on the rights of the Russian-speaking population and discrimination against Russian culture in Ukraine have led to a schism in that country, the deputy chief of the Russian presidential administration, Magomedsalam Magomedov, told a news conference on Monday.

"This practice shows that if the national issue does not see enough attention from the state or if the wrong decisions are made, this can lead to irreversible effects. Examples are well-known. They include the disintegration of the Soviet Union," Magomedov said in TASS.

"Among the most recent examples is, of course, the situation in Ukraine, where the violation of the rights of the Russian and Russian-speaking population on ethnic grounds, as well as cultural and linguistic discrimination have in fact led to a split in the society and the state," he said.

Russia has a completely different national policy, the Kremlin official stressed.
