"All settlements: Dnepryany, Korsunka, a huge number of Kherson residences, Kazachiy Lagery and everything below, all of them will be flooded. According to my estimates, it is tens of thousands of people. And in particular, a few thousand people in New Kakhovka, who are to be directly affected by flooding," Leontiev said

TASS, November 13. Tens of thousands of people in different settlements in the Kherson Region will find themselves in the flooding zone if the Ukrainian armed forces blow up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant dam, Vladimir Leontiev, head of the Novokakhovsky urban district, told TASS.

"All settlements: Dnepryany, Korsunka, a huge number of Kherson residences, Kazachiy Lagery and everything below, all of them will be flooded. According to my estimates, it is tens of thousands of people. And in particular, a few thousand people in New Kakhovka, who are to be directly affected by flooding," Leontiev said, "Novaya Kakhovka is located downstream, which means a height difference of 15-16 meters. In case of breakthrough, the wave will move downstream at 60-70 kilometers per hour. It's very fast".

On October 18, Vladimir Saldo, Acting Governor of the Kherson Region, announced that civilians on the right bank of the region would be evacuated to the left bank of the Dnieper River due to the threat of flooding that could occur if the Ukrainian military struck the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant. On October 31, Saldo announced the expansion of the evacuation zone by 15 km from the Dnieper along the left-bank part of the region. The expanded evacuation zone included the territories of the Novokakhovsky urban district, Golaya Pristan, Alyoshkin, Kakhovky, Gornostayevky, Velikolepetikhsky, and Verkhnaya Rogachikskaya municipal districts.
