Final farewell ceremony for Kherson Region’s deputy governor underway in Simferopol

SIMFEROPOL, November 11. /TASS/. A final farewell ceremony for Deputy Governor of the Kherson Region Kirill Stremousov is underway at the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the Crimean capital of Simferopol, a TASS correspondent reports.

Wreaths on behalf of the Russian Presidential Administration, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), where Stremousov was born, the chairman of the DPR State Council, the Kherson regional administration and the region’s residents were placed in the cathedral ahead of the ceremony.

Stremousov died in a car crash in the Kherson Region on November 9. In 2018-2019, he was the chairman of the Kherson regional branch of the Ukrainian Socialist Party, which in 2022 became one of the so-called pro-Russian parties whose activities are banned in Ukraine. In October 2020, Stremousov ran for Kherson’s city mayor as an independent candidate. In 2021, he joined the Derzhava party (its activities were banned in Ukraine in 2022). Russian troops took control of the Kherson Region in 2022 during Moscow’s special military operation. In April 2022, Stremousov took the position of deputy head of the regional military-civilian administration. He obtained a Russian passport in September 2022.
