MELITOPOL, November 7. /TASS/. The hryvnia will be completely out of circulation in the Zaporozhye region starting January 1, 2023, Vladimir Rogov, chair of the We Are Together with Russia movement, told TASS on Monday.
"Starting January 1, 2023, the hryvnia will not circulate in the Zaporozhye region," Rogov said.
In early October, Acting Governor of the region Yevgeny Balitsky said that the hryvnia was nearly completely out of circulation in the Zaporozhye region, and had depreciated to 50 kopecks at the official rate of 1.25 rubles per hryvnia.
In accordance with federal constitutional laws on the admission of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to the Russian Federation, the Russian ruble will be the monetary unit there starting January 1, 2023. The Ukrainian hryvnia will be allowed as currency in these regions until the end of 2022.
