TASS launches Arabic-language news service

The feed will publish news about the developments in Russia, while reflecting Moscow’s position on key global issues and problems

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. TASS Russian News Agency launched its Arabic-language news feed, TASS Arabic News Service, on November 1. The news service will release at least 100 messages per day, the Department of Corporate Communications said.

Now TASS news will be published in all languages of the United Nations. Earlier, subscribers had access to news feeds in the Russian, English, French, Spanish and Chinese languages.

"As an expert in Arab studies, I’m doubly pleased with the launch of the newswire. Arabic is the fifth most widely spoken language in the world and one of the six official languages of the United Nations. TASS already releases feeds in five languages and the new feed will fill the gap. So, our news content is available in all UN languages," TASS Director General Sergey Mikhaylov emphasized.

According to Mikhaylov, today, Russia is experiencing a massive upsurge in its ties with the Arab world. "Our goal is to shape a comprehensive picture of current events, covering them in a language, which is spoken by hundreds of millions of people in the Middle East and Africa," the director general said.

The feed will publish news about the developments in Russia, while reflecting Moscow’s position on key global issues and problems.

The product places particular emphasis on Russia’s interaction with countries of the Arab world, news about international relations, top political, foreign policy and economic news from Arab states of the Middle East and Africa, as well as news from other Islamic nations.

The feed will publish news daily from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, Moscow Time (5:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. UTC). Subscribers will find roundups of the day’s key events twice daily - in the morning and in the evening.
