More than 100 Ukrainian prisoners of war arrested in DPR — Justice Ministry

Earlier, the republic's human rights commissioner Daria Morozova stated that the recording of crimes continues, and the exact number will be announced in the coming months

MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/. Over 100 Ukrainian prisoners of war have been arrested in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), they have been taken to a detention center, where they will await trial, DPR Justice Minister Yury Sirovatko announced on Thursday.

"Now, after the investigators' examination, we have facts of [their] involvement in the crimes, and there are already more than 100 people who have been arrested by the investigators, they have already been taken to the pre-trial detention center. They will wait for their fate and the court’s decision," he said during a Rossiya-24 TV broadcast.

Sirovatko pointed out that a number of specialized agencies, including special units of the State Security Ministry, are working with each Ukrainian serviceman to determine their involvement in war crimes against the residents of the republic.

According to Sirovatko, hundreds of volumes of criminal cases on crimes committed by units of Ukraine’s armed forces and nationalist battalions against the residents of Donbass have been collected in just eight years of the conflict. The evidence base is there, all the evidence of the crimes were recorded, the Justice Minister added.
