Strikes at Kakhovka HPP delivered during evacuation of people from Novaya Kakhovka

According to Stremousov, a probability that the plant’s dam could be destroyed does exist

KHERSON, November 6. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops were shelling the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant when people were being evacuated from Novaya Kakhovka some five kilometers downstream the plant’s dam, Kirill Stremousov, the region’s deputy governor, said on Sunday.

"Today’s strikes at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant did not serious harm but these strikes were delivered right when Novaya Kakhovka residents were being evacuated," he wrote on his Telegram channel, adding that no one was hurt.

According to Stremousov, a probability that the plant’s dam could be destroyed does exist. "But we are sparing no effort to prevent all such processes, any possible flooding," he stressed.

Emergencies agencies said earlier that Ukrainian troops had fired six HIMARS rockets at the Kakhovka plant. Five were downed but the sixth one hit the dam’s flood-gate.
