MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. Car traffic on the Crimean Bridge will be suspended temporarily on November 8 due to repair and recovery activities, the press service of the Russian Transport Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
"On November 8, from 4 am to 4 pm (Moscow time) car traffic on the Crimean Bridge will be suspended due to repair and recovery activities," the statement reads.
Crimean head Sergey Aksenov has urged not to plan trips between Crimea and the Krasnodar Region during the period of repair works at the bridge. "Trucks are recommended to choose routes through new territories of the Russian Federation for driving from the Republic of Crimea to other Russian substituent entities and back," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to data provided by the administration of the Krasnodar Region, as of Sunday the queue to cross the Kerch Strait from Kuban to Crimea has decreased to 88 trucks.
A truck blew up on October 8 on the Crimean Bridge, subsequently damaging two spans of the bridge’s roadway segment, while the tanks of a neighboring freight train caught fire. Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin is leading a government commission which was created following the emergency. To date, railway traffic on the Crimean Bridge has been restored, and car and bus traffic has also been partially resumed.
