MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. An Ilyushin IL-76 aircraft belonging to the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations loaded with 27 tons of humanitarian aid for the residents of the Gaza Strip has touched down at the airport in the Egyptian city of El Arish, the ministry’s press service said.
"A plane of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations with humanitarian aid on board has arrived at the airport of El Arish city. The ministry’s Il-76 aircraft has delivered 27 tons of humanitarian cargo for the population of the Gaza Strip," the press service said.
The flight comes on orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov. The cargo includes generators, clothes, dressing materials, food and baby food. This is the first humanitarian cargo sent to the residents of Palestine from Dagestan, the head of the Russian region, Sergey Melikov, said. Business owners, clergy, public sector employees and other residents of the republic helped organize aid for the embattled Gaza Strip. In total, over 100,000 tons of humanitarian aid has been collected in Dagestan. The next batch, according to Melikov, will be sent in the near future.
On November 18, a Russian emergencies ministry plane airlifted 30 tons of humanitarian aid for the population of the Gaza Strip, including mattresses, pillows, personal hygiene products, food and baby food. A total of 190 tons of humanitarian aid have arrived from Russia.
