Russian air defenses thwart Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow

According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, emergency services are working at the scene

MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. Air defense forces in the town of Elektrostal located east of Moscow thwarted a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian capital, with no injuries or damage reported, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Monday.

"Air defense forces in the urban district of Elektrostal thwarted an attack by a drone flying towards Moscow. There are no casualties or destruction at the scene of the fall of fragments, according to preliminary information," the Moscow mayor wrote on his Telegram channel.

Emergency services are working at the scene, Sobyanin added.

As the Russian Defense Ministry reported, the Ukrainian attack drone was intercepted by alert air defense forces over the territory of the Moscow Region.

"At 11:20 p.m. Moscow time [8:20 p.m. GMT] on November 19, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with an aircraft-type drone against facilities on the territory of Moscow and the Moscow Region was foiled," the ministry said in a statement.
