VIENNA, November 20. /TASS/. Ukraine seems to have taken the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) resolution as a carte blanche to shell the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based international organizations Mikhail Ulyanov said on Sunday.
"Yesterday and today the Ukrainian armed forces undertook heavy shelling of the ZNPP. Looks like they perceived the recent misleading IAEA BoG resolution sponsored by Canada and Finlandia as a carte blanche for resumption of shelling the biggest nuclear power plant in Europe," he wrote on his Twitter account.
The IAEA Board of Governors on Thursday passed a resolution calling on Russia to stop all activities at Ukrainian nuclear facilities. Apart from that, the resolution expressed concern over the pressure on Ukrainian personnel at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and over "repeated disruption of off-site power supply due to shelling" of the adjacent territories.
