Russian diplomat draws ICRC chief’s attention to Ukraine’s humanitarian law violations

It is noted that issues related to the ICRC’s activities in Russia, particularly in light of the acceptance of new regions into the country, were also touched upon at the meeting

MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin held a meeting with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, drawing her attention to the Ukrainian army’s humanitarian law violations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the meeting, held in Geneva on November 10.

"The parties discussed the top priorities of efforts to ensure the humanitarian needs of civilians and protect prisoners of war with regard to the special military operation. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger’s attention was drawn to ongoing regular provocations and violations of international humanitarian law by the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the statement reads.

Issues related to the ICRC’s activities in Russia, particularly in light of the acceptance of new regions into the country, were also touched upon at the meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
