Russia to fill Taliban in on outcome of Moscow’s Afghan consultations, says Lavrov

The top diplomat emphasized that regular contact is maintained with Taliban officials

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Russia will brief the Taliban movement on the outcome of the next round of Moscow’s consultations on Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Tuesday.

Russian Special Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said earlier that a delegation of the Taliban’s temporary government would not take part in the dialogue.

"We maintain regular contact with Taliban officials. They will be privy to what participants in the Moscow meeting will do. We surely don’t have any secrets from Afghanistan’s representatives and we will provide detailed information to the Taliban and other political forces that exist in the country," Lavrov said responding to a question from TASS.
