MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. The Russian side has information that terrorists in Syria are plotting an attack on the Hmeymim airbase with the use of kamikaze drones, Oleg Yegorov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (division of the Russian defense ministry), said on Friday.

"According to reports received by the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties, militants of the Jabhat al-Nusra (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, outlawed in Russia) and the Turkistan Islamic Party (outlawed in Russia) terrorist groups are plotting an attack on the airbase at Hmaymim with the use of combat unmanned aerial vehicles and kamikaze drones," he said.

According to Yegorov, terrorists have assembled and equipped a great number of drones with a range of action of up to 70 kilometers at workshops near the settlement of Herbet al-Jawz. "Under a presumed plan of terrorists, the drones are tasked to divert Russian air defense systems and hit Hmeymim airbase facilities," he said.
