Russian security chief slams attack on ships guarding grain corridor as terrorist act

Nikolay Patrushev stressed that "after receiving written security assurances, Russia continued its participation in the deal"

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. The attack on the Black Sea Fleet ships, which ensure the safety of the humanitarian corridor for the grain export, is a terrorist act, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said on Thursday.

"Russia agreed to participate in the grain deal for Ukrainian exports, but was forced to suspend its participation after the terrorist attack against its Black Sea Fleet," Patrushev recalled, speaking on Thursday at a meeting of Secretaries of CIS Security Councils.

"The attack on the ships guarding the humanitarian corridor cannot be regarded as anything other than a terrorist act," he pointed out.

The security chief stressed that "after receiving written security assurances, Russia continued its participation in the deal."

"Western countries have accused our country of provoking a food crisis. However, its main cause is illegal sanctions that make it difficult to supply Russian food and fertilizers to countries in need," Patrushev said.
