AMVROSIYEVKA /DPR/. November 1. The authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) are doing their utmost to bring home as many POWs as possible from Ukraine, the acting head of the republic, Denis Pushilin, said on Tuesday.
"Negotiations continue. From our side, the lists are all being put together, we are trying to gather the maximum amount of information about our prisoners to have everyone on the lists. Then it's a guarantee that by the next swap we won't leave out anyone," Pushilin said. He did not elaborate on the details of the process due to the complexity of the topic.
The republic has a sufficient exchange archive, he stressed in reply to a journalist’s question. At the same time, Ukraine is interested in the exchange of media personalities, nationalists from the Azov battalion (outlawed in Russia, recognized as a terrorist organization), which significantly hinders the process of agreeing to the swap.
On Tuesday, nine military service members from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics met with their families after having been released from Ukrainian captivity, after which Pushilin spoke to the servicemen.
