HAVANA, April 22. /TASS/. A humanitarian shipment of around 20,000 tonnes of wheat has arrived in Cuba from Russia, Russian Ambassador to Havana Andrey Guskov said on Thursday.

"Today we are handing over 19,526 tonnes of wheat to Cuba. This humanitarian shipment was sent to the island in accordance with a Russian governmental decree, adopted last year. We keep helping the people of Cuba, who have to face illegal and inhumane US blockade in times of the COVID-19 pandemic," the diplomat said at a ceremony, held at Cuba’s ministry of food industry.

In January, Moscow delivered about 83 tonnes of medicines and medical goods to Havana. Last year, Russia sent 170 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to the island in total, including food and medicines.
