ANKARA, January 9. /TASS/. One of the visitors to a mosque in the Fatih district of Istanbul attacked an imam and a parishioner with a knife, the Istanbul Governor's Office reported on its website.
According to the report, on January 8, at about 19:15 local time, a man with the initials O. Sh. caused a scandal, starting to shout slogans. The imam of the mosque, Galip Usta, asked him to leave. The man wounded another man with a knife, the governor's office said in a statement.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, their health is not in danger, the governor’s press service said. The attacker was detained by police and taken to the police station. There is no information yet about the reasons for his behavior.
