At least two people wounded in shelling of Russian Belgorod Region settlement - governor

The governor said that he personally controlled the situation

MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. Two people were wounded when the settlement of Zhuravlevka in the Belgorod Region was shelled on Monday, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.

"The head of Zhuravlevka, Anzhelika Vasilyevna [Samoilova] called, the shelling of the village began. <…> It is already clear now that civilians were wounded. For now, there are two wounded persons - a man with a wound to the hand and a women with a wound in the area of the neck. Ambulance cars are on their way to the site, some residential buildings were destroyed," Gladkov blogged.

The governor said that he personally controlled the situation. The scope of damage from the shelling will be clear later. "We will rebuild everything that was destroyed," he said.

Late on Monday, the shelling of Nekhoteevka, a village neighboring on Zhuravlevka, by Ukrainian troops was reported.

On March 23, the state of emergency was introduced in two border villages of the Belgorod region - Zhuravlevka and Nekhoteevka, where three people were injured and more than 20 houses and cars were damaged due to the explosion of a projectile launched from Ukraine.

On the night of March 24, several explosions were recorded in Zhuravlevka: shells fell in a non-residential area of the village. In the evening of the same day, one person was killed in the shelling of Zhuravlevka. More than 40 houses and a school were damaged during the shelling of the village from Ukraine on April 14, one person suffered a shrapnel wound.
