Toyota recalls almost 140,000 RAV4 crossovers in Russia

According to the company's statement, there is a possibility that in some Toyota RAV4 cars, seat belts could get damaged in the event of a strong frontal impact at high speed’

MOSCOW, July 25. /TASS/. Russian Toyota dealer - Toyota Motor - recalls 139,604 RAV4 crossovers in Russia sold from December 15, 2005, to August 23, 2013, the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (Rosstandart) said on Monday.

"Toyota RAV4 cars, its second row outer seats, are equipped with three-point seat belts. There is a possibility that in some Toyota RAV4 cars, due to the shape of second row seat cushion metal frame, seat belts could get damaged in the event of a strong frontal impact at high speed,’ the statement said.

Rosstandart noted that in such situations seatbelt cannot properly support a passenger, which could increase the risk of injury in accident.

The vehicles that falling under the recall will be repaired free of charge to owners.
