The issue of gradual abandonment of the US currency use in cross-border settlements is particularly pressing for BRICS countries that "could avoid the dollar hegemony," Yvan Gil Pinto added

MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. Venezuela and Russia are moving to de-dollarization and expect to make a transition to mutual payments in national currencies soon, Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto said at a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"We continue cooperation between our central banks in technical and technology spheres and we will progress very soon in de-dollarization within the framework of our financial architecture, and further hope to shift to payments in national currencies," he said.

The issue of gradual abandonment of the US currency use in cross-border settlements is particularly pressing for BRICS countries that "could avoid the dollar hegemony" owing to implementation of such policy, the top Venezuelan diplomat added.
