Rosatom eyes nuclear cooperation with Latin America — head of representative office

RIO DE JANEIRO, November 22. /TASS/. Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom has serious plans to develop cooperation with Latin American countries, Ivan Dybov, head of the regional center of Rosatom in Latin America, told TASS on Monday.

"We are very pleased that very serious delegations from Latin American countries arrived at Atomexpo 2022 this year. [There is a delegation] from Brazil led by the head of ENBPar (a state-owned company engaged in nuclear energy projects, which is subordinate to the Brazilian Ministry of Energy - TASS), it includes representatives of INB (Brazilian Nuclear Industry, a state-owned company subordinate to the Ministry of Energy engaged in the extraction and enrichment of uranium ore and the production of nuclear fuel - TASS), representatives of Nuclep (a company engaged in the production of equipment for the nuclear and defense industries - TASS). They will hold negotiations, participate in the business program of the event. There is a delegation from Mexico, where we also have serious plans to develop our presence. There are delegations from Bolivia, Nicaragua, Cuba, Argentina - countries we have serious plans to develop cooperation with," he said.

The international forum Atomexpo-2022 is the main event in the global nuclear industry. The forum is attended by leading industry experts from more than 50 countries. The key theme of the event is "Nuclear Spring: Creating a Sustainable Future". The forum, which takes place on November 21-22 in Sochi, will discuss the role of nuclear climate agenda and the contribution of nuclear technologies to the achievement of the UN sustainable development goals.
