Rosatom plans to build four power units in Egypt at a time in 2023 — CEO

The pool of workers at the construction site will be 30,000 at the least when construction will reach its peak

SIRIUS FEDERAL TERRITORY, November 21. /TASS/. Rosatom expects to perform construction of four power units in Egypt concurrently by the end of the next year, CEO of the Russian state nuclear corporation Aleksey Likhachev told reporters at the Atomexpo-2022 Forum.

"The banner of the largest construction project will go to Egypt. We hope to construct there four nuclear power units in parallel by the end of the next year," the top manager said. The pool of workers at the construction site will be 30,000 at the least when construction will reach its peak, he noted. "Egyptian nationals will account for at least 80% of the labor force at the same time," Likhachev stressed.

The Egyptian regulator granted a permit to build the first power unit of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in late June 2022.
