Strategic partnership plan between Russia and Iran enters final phase — Novak

The two countries have frequently stated their intention to increase economic cooperation

GROZNY, November 1. /TASS/. The preparation of a new large interstate agreement on cooperation between Russia and Iran is entering the final phase, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at a press conference following a meeting of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission.

"The preparation of a new large interstate agreement between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran is entering its final phase. This document is designed to bring multifaceted relations between our countries to the level of strategic partnership," he said.

"Soon, we expect to receive considerations from Iranian friends on the draft submitted by us on June 16, 2022," he added.

The two countries have frequently stated their intention to increase economic cooperation. The 16th meeting of the Russian-Iranian commission for trade and economic cooperation is held in Grozny to secure these agreements and declare the new ones. The Russian side is represented by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, while the Iranian side is represented by Iranian Petroleum Minister Javad Owji.
