Gazprom turns out to be most mentioned Russian company in foreign media in 2020

In addition, foreign media are showing interest in Yandex and its innovative developments, which is according to the rating prepared especially for TASS by LexisNexis

MOSCOW, February 18. / TASS /. Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil topped the list of the most mentioned largest Russian companies in foreign media in 2020, according to the rating prepared especially for TASS by LexisNexis, made available on Thursday.

The experts analyzed the number of references of the first hundred of the RAEX-600 rating of the largest companies in Russia in various publications. Their media presence in foreign publications was assessed using the LexisNexis media database. It is noted that Gazprom invariably occupies a leading position in the public field (27,209 references). First of all, foreign media are interested in the construction of Nord Stream 2, gas supplies to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the topic of price formation for natural gas for supplies to Belarus.

Rosneft is in the second spot of the rating with 14,179 references, the key topics around which were the termination of the company's activities in Venezuela and the signing of a deal with Indian Oil to supply 2 mln tonnes of oil to India. In third place in the ranking is Lukoil (10,831 mentions): foreign media reported on an agreement to acquire 40% in the Senegalese company Cairn Energy and on the supply of lubricants for the MAN engine plant in Nuremberg (Germany).

In addition, foreign media are showing interest in Yandex (7,733 mentions) and its innovative developments (for example, using a robot to deliver food). The media also came across a statement by company representatives about the threat of a worsening investment climate due to a bill limiting the share of foreign capital to 20% in Russian companies offering online streaming video services. There were also major news on

the decision of Aeroflot (6,661 mentions of the company) to drop passengers who refuse to wear a mask, the financial performance of Sberbank (6,296 references), its plans to issue a cryptocurrency, to expand the banking business in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, Norilsk Nickel environmental accident, and Megaphone (3,626 mentions).
