MOSCOW, June 6. /TASS/. Michael Calvey, the founder of the Baring Vostok private equity firm who is currently under house arrest on fraud charges, has not requested permission to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a source familiar with the situation, told TASS.
"Actually, Calvey has not filed a request with the Investigative Committee on the possibility to attend the forum," the source said.
Earlier, media reports said Calvey was willing to attend the forum, which is taking place on June 6-8.
Michael Calvey, founder of private-equity firm Baring Vostok, was detained and later arrested on suspicion of embezzling 2.5 bln rubles ($37.5 mln) from Vostochny Bank. Moscow’s Basmanny Court also arrested five other suspects in the case. Calvey was sent to a pre-trial detention center, but later he was placed under house arrest.
