Restoring full bilateral cooperation was discussed at Moldovan President Igor Dodon's meeting with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov

CHISINAU, December 5. /TASS/. Moldova is interested in restoring full trade and economic cooperation with Russia as soon as possible, President Igor Dodon said at a meeting with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov on Wednesday.

"We discussed a number of important issues concerning economic, humanitarian and regional cooperation, as well as problems facing Moldovan labor migrants who work in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region," Dodon wrote on Facebook. "I emphasized Moldova’s interest in restoring full trade and economic cooperation with Russia as soon as possible," he added.

Dodon, who is currently on a visit to St. Petersburg for a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, stressed that Moldova would like St. Petersburg business circles to take part in joint economic projects. He also said that Beglov would visit Moldova in March 2019 at his invitation.

On Tuesday, Dodon called for stepping up cooperation between Moldova and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), particularly in the spheres of agriculture, energy and finances.

Chisinau signed a memorandum of cooperation with the EAEU in 2017 and obtained observer status in 2018.
