Russia’s top brass posts clip of Msta-S howitzers crushing Ukrainian artillery and armor

The Msta-S self-propelled howitzer team changes its firing position after each barrage on enemy targets, the ministry said

MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry posted video footage showing teams of Msta-S self-propelled howitzers wiping out enemy artillery guns, tanks and pickup vehicles during the special military operation in Ukraine.

A Msta-S team can eradicate as many as three enemy tanks in a 24-hour duty shift, a battery senior officer with the call sign Metallurgist specified.

"The primary mission is to hit and destroy enemy artillery guns. Presently, our basic task is [also] to conduct counter-battery warfare and we operate with a roving 2S19M2 [Msta-S] gun. We strike both enemy small-caliber hardware like pickup trucks and heavy materiel like infantry fighting vehicles and tanks. The most effective result is the destruction of three tanks in a 24-hour duty shift," the senior officer said.

The Msta-S self-propelled howitzer team changes its firing position after each barrage on enemy targets, the ministry said.

"In their combat mission, artillery squads of the Central Military District follow the principle: ‘one target - one position.’ This denies the adversary the opportunity to deliver a directed retaliatory strike. Owing to the trajectory of the shells, the enemy reveals the weapon emplacement that has already been abandoned by artillery teams," the ministry explained.
