MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces seeks to cut communications between the Kherson Region and Crimea, Chairman of the We Stand With Russia movement Vladimir Rogov said on Monday.
"They are trying to cut off the supply lines of our forces stationed in the Kherson Region and they are also trying to cut off the land corridor to Crimea," he told the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station, when asked about the consequences of Ukrainian troops’ activities in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
According to Rogov, the importance of the land corridor to Crimea has increased recently as the Crimean Bridge is undergoing repairs and most goods are transported to the Crimean Peninsula via the Zaporozhye Region.
The Kherson Region’s Deputy Governor Kirill Stremousov said on November 6 that Ukraine was deploying a large number of tanks and other armored vehicles along the region’s border. He also said that Kiev was probably stepping up shelling attacks as part of preparations for an offensive. Stremousov added, however, that Russian troops were holding their ground despite the Ukrainian army’s attempts to break through their defenses.
