MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/. Russian air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian Su-24 warplane over the LPR as well as a Ukrainian Tochka-U missile over Izyum in the Kharkov Region, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.

"Russia’s air defense systems shot down a Su-24 aircraft of Ukraine’s air force over the community of Nikolayevka of the Lugansk People’s Republic," he said.

According to the military official, this morning, the air defense systems also deflected a strike with a Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missile on the residential blocks of the town of Izyum in the Kharkov Region. "The strike targeted the city’s hospital where a Russian medical squad is located which provides aid to the residents of the Kharkov Region," the spokesman noted.
