BEIJING, July 6. /TASS/. BRICS member states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) are to remain the key driving force of the global economy, China’s Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Goping said.
"BRICS member states will retain the role of the main driving force of global economic growth in the future," the official said. "After the difficulties caused by reforms, there are even bigger opportunities for growth opening up for BRICS," he told reporters ahead of Chinese President’s Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to Russia where he is due to participate in the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summits in Ufa.
The official said that during the BRICS summit the countries will strengthen their partnership "by expressing their common position concerning important international issues, including economic development after 2015, climate change and the reform of the IMF".
In April Russia took over BRICS chairmanship. The 7th BRICS summit is due to be held July 8-9 in Ufa. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit will follow on July 9-10.
