WASHINGTON, August 12. /TASS/. Although the meeting in Alaska will have a bilateral character, Washington continues to maintain contacts with Kiev and its allies in Europe, White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said.
"Look, only one party that's involved in this war is going to be present, and so this is for the President to go and to get, again, a more firm and better understanding of how we can hopefully bring this war to an end," she said, adding that the United States will "continue to be very much engaged" with Ukraine and the European allies.
Talks between the US and Russian presidents, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, will be held in Alaska on August 15. According to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the leaders will focus on discussing options for reaching a lasting settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
