TUNIS, March 24. /TASS/. Over the past 40 days, Israel has violated the terms of the Gaza ceasefire agreement with the radical Hamas movement more than 900 times, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi told a meeting of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of parliament.
"The agreement [between Israel and Hamas] on the exchange [of hostages] involved the creation of a joint Egyptian-Qatari operations center to monitor compliance with the terms of the agreement. This center has recorded more than 900 Israeli violations of the truce over the past 40 days," Petra news agency quoted the minister as saying. According to Safadi, Jordan continues to "make efforts to stop Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and illegal actions against the West Bank."
On March 18, Israel resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip, launching massive strikes on the enclave and thereby interrupting the ceasefire regime established in January. Israel explained this by Hamas' rejection of proposals put forward at the talks by mediators and US special envoy Steven Witkoff. It said the goal of the operation in the strip is the release of all hostages. The radicals blamed Israel and the United States for the resumption of hostilities.
