CHISINAU, January 15. /TASS/. Sappers destroyed on the site the live part of a missile that fell on Saturday in the northern Moldova's village of Larga, near the border with Ukraine, the country's Interior Ministry reported on Sunday.

"A team of sappers together with representatives of the Internal Affairs Ministry conducted a controlled explosion. The task was carried out in conditions of maximum security," the ministry’s report reads.

According to the Interior Ministry, the army and police are now surveying the area where the missile fell in order to collect all the debris, which will be handed over to specialized prosecutors.

Earlier, the Moldovan Interior Ministry reported that a fragment of the missile's warhead contained about 80 kilograms of explosives.

This is the third case of a missile or its fragments falling on the territory of the republic during the period of the special military operation in Ukraine. The Moldovan authorities still do not disclose data about the ownership of both the fragments and the missile that fell and exploded on October 31 near the Moldovan settlement of Naslavcea. However, after that incident, the Russian envoy in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, was protested and later a member of the diplomatic mission was expelled from the republic.
