BEIJING, October 21. /TASS/. Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday said the Chinese economic system is stable and has potential for long-term development.

"The Chinese economy is now stable and has large potential and opportunity for broad maneuvers. The foundations for its long-term development won’t change," Xi Jinping said during the first plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of China's Communist Party.

The Chinese government set the GDP growth goal at about 5.5% for 2022. The growth reached 4.8% in the first quarter and slowed to 0.4% in the second quarter. GDP growth totaled 2.5% in the first half of the year. Last year, China’s GDP expanded by 8.1%.
