MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. The situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is under control and the radiation background is within normal limits, CEO of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom Aleksey Likhachev said on Wednesday on the air with the Rossiya-24 TV Channel.
"I would like to reiterate: the situation [at the Zaporozhye NPP] is absolutely under control so far; the radiation background is normal. We will continue endeavoring to preserve security of this plant," the top manager said.
The Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant among operating in Europe at present. Russia established control over it on February 28. The plant continued its normal operation.
