"Political needs have most of the time overwhelmed a clear understanding of science, and even the significance of people's lives," the newspaper said.

According to the Global Times, "the West, especially the US, despite the highest COVID-19 death toll, still has the nerve to point fingers at China's zero-COVID policy."

Last month, US President Joe Biden stated that the pandemic was over. Meanwhile, according to Johns Hopkins University, over two mln coronavirus cases and more than 12,000 fatalities were confirmed in the United States in the past month.
