SpaceX withdraws request for funding Starlink in Ukraine to Pentagon, says Musk

Earlier, CNN said it had obtained a copy of a letter, in which SpaceX notified the US Department of Defense that it would stop paying for the operation of the Starlink system in Ukraine and had no plans for providing Kiev with new terminals indefinitely

NEW YORK, October 18. /TASS/. SpaceX founder Elon Musk has said the company has already withdrawn its request to the Pentagon on funding the work of the satellite communication system Starlink in Ukraine.

"SpaceX has already withdrawn its request for funding," Musk tweeted on Monday commenting on the article published by the Politico newspaper saying the Pentagon was considering the possibility of paying for Starlink operation.

Earlier, CNN said it had obtained a copy of a letter, in which SpaceX notified the US Department of Defense that it would stop paying for the operation of the Starlink system in Ukraine and had no plans for providing Kiev with new terminals indefinitely. According to the broadcaster, the message also contained a request to the Pentagon for paying for the supply of additional Starlink terminals to Kiev, as well as for the system’s services provided to the Ukrainian authorities and military.

On October 15, Musk said he would continue paying for the operation of Starlink in Ukraine independently despite losses.
