Syria condemns act of sabotage by terrorists on Crimean Bridge — MFA

Russia has the right to take the necessary measures to protect its national security, the Syrian Foreign Ministry emphasized

BEIRUT, October 10. /TASS/. Syria’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Monday, condemning the October 8 terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge.

"Syria strongly condemns this terrorist act, which, as the investigation showed, was carried out by Kiev’s special services," says the document published by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

According to the ministry, "this terrorist act was not condemned by the United States and the West, what demonstrates their complicity in the attack against the Russian Federation."

Russia has the right to take the necessary measures to protect its national security, the Syrian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

"Syria reiterates its full solidarity with Russia and supports Russia’s right to take all measures to ensure its national security and put an end to NATO’s aggression, which poses a serious threat to peace and security both in Europe and the world," the statement reads, according to SANA.

A truck exploded on the Crimean Bridge on Saturday morning, causing several fuel tanks of a train to catch fire. Three people were killed in the blast. Two spans of the bridge’s roadway to the peninsula collapsed. The head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said this was a terrorist attack carried out by Ukraine’s special services. At the moment, the railway traffic on the Crimean Bridge has been restored and the ferry service is operating.
