Volunteer battalions begin to be formed in Zaporozhye Region — authorities

There are many people who would like to defend their homeland, head of the region’s military-civilian administration Yevgeny Balitsky noted

SIMFEROPOL, June 15. /TASS/. Local residents in the Zaporozhye Region have begun to draw up lists of volunteers eager to join battalions, which, if necessary, will defend the liberated territories, the head of the region’s military-civilian administration, Yevgeny Balitsky, said on the Solovyov Live TV channel on Wednesday.

"We, the territory that has been liberated, have an incredible chance to break out (from under Ukraine’s rule - TASS). There are many people who would like to defend their homeland - not from hypothetical Turks or Finns, but from Ukraine’s armed forces. For the time being people keep coming and signing up. More than 200 have been enlisted by now," he said.

Balitsky explained that the authorities had not officially established any battalions yet, but many locals were eager to join such units and had begun to draw up lists of volunteers.

The police have already been formed in the region, but security in the Zaporozhye Region still depends heavily on the Russian army, he added.
