ASTANA, March 20. /TASS/. Kazakhstan will preserve the former peaceful foreign political course after President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s resignation and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s accession to office, the Kazakhstani Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Kazakhstan will preserve the peaceful foreign political course based on the principles of multivectorness, balance and pragmatism, with observation of all international obligations. Relations with all the states of the global community will continue to be built based on mutual respect, equal rights and regard for each other’s interests," according to the statement released on the ministry’s website.
Kazakhstan’s political system provides a complete succession of authority and the political and economic development of the country, the document says. The course for improving the investment climate in the republic, in particular for the protection of the rights and interests of foreign business partners, will continue.
Kazakhstan’s President Nazarbayev declared his resignation on Tuesday, and Senate Speaker Kassym-Jomart Tokayev assumed office as president. He took oath on Wednesday.
