MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Chairwoman of the management board of Soyuzmultfilm, a Moscow-based animation studio, production and distribution company, Yuliana Slashcheva, who is also director-general of the Gorky Film Studio, has revealed that Brazil is interested in partnering to create a BRICS TV channel for children.
"I would also like to mention, for example, the Brazilian side of the business alliance, Monica Monteiro (the chairwoman of a chapter of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance - TASS). She is likewise a director and my peer in some sense. And, for instance, with Brazil, we are discussing the idea of a BRICS children’s channel which Russia can spearhead, because Soyuzmultfilm has a TV channel for kids, and Brazil can pick up this idea as this year’s BRICS chair," she said at the 2nd Mothers. Children. Business. Forum-Festival.
She also noted that BRICS countries can hop on board this initiative to create a real family-friendly TV channel for children. "You see, currently, [the content] greatly differs from that in Anglo-Saxon countries. We do not have a variety of genders in movies, we have a full family. Traditional family values are all around us and they are close to home for Brazil, the Middle East, other BRICS countries," she said.
According to Slashcheva, "the Russian content encounters very strong resistance, opposition on the part of the majority of Anglo-Saxon markets."
"What’s happening right now is that they are not taking our content anyway and we have been blocked off. But back when they were taking it, they constantly kept trying to criticize our content, saying it didn’t fit their standards. So, when we hear that there are countries with the attitude, values and traditions that align with ours, kindred spirits, let's say, we want to bring our children up the same way as them and we think that it’d be a great thing to do, if we have such an initiative as the common channel for kids," she explained.
