Ministry reveals number of new regions’ residents who received Russian passports

Valentina Kazakova also recalled that since 2019, DPR and LPR citizens could obtain Russian citizenship on humanitarian grounds according to a decree issued by the Russian president

MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. More than 80,000 residents of the Donetsk and the Lugansk People's Republics, as well as of the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions have received Russian passports after these regions became part of Russia, Valentina Kazakova, Chief of the Main Directorate for Migration Affairs of the Russian Interior Ministry, reported at a briefing.

"After these four regions joined the Russian Federation in accordance with the law, over 80,000 people received Russian passports," she said.

Kazakova also recalled that since 2019, DPR and LPR citizens could obtain Russian citizenship on humanitarian grounds according to a decree issued by the Russian president. "During this period, more than 1,100,000 people became citizens of the Russian Federation," she added.
