MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/. Specialists of the Safe Internet League have revealed the direct involvement of Google in the information campaign against Russia, which unfolded on the Web after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, Director of the Safe Internet League and Russian Civic Chamber member Yekaterina Mizulina said on Tuesday at a press conference at TASS.
"Our specialists <…> declare that Google is directly involved in the information attack on Russia. Both with the help of specialists who are somehow connected with the company, and with the help of various tools of a technical nature that this company uses to promote various fakes, violent appeals, including in search results and in the top of the video hosting YouTube," she said.
The customers of the information campaign, according to Mizulina, are organizations from around the world. "Now we can already say directly that the customers of the information attack against Russia are Western intelligence services, Western non-governmental, non-profit organizations, large media agencies and a number of social networks. This includes the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, Poland, NATO and EU countries, and, of course, Ukraine. We can see the presence of the Pentagon represented by the US Cyber Command, the presence of the National Security Agency, the US Global Media Agency," she said.
League experts estimate that more than $2.8 billion has already been spent on the information attack against Russia.
Russian President Putin said on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, noting that the operation was aimed at the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.
