MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office demands to recognize Meta as an extremist organization and ban its activities in Russia, the agency’s press service told TASS.

"In accordance with the Federal Law "On Countering Extremist Activity", the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has sent an application to the court to recognize Meta Platforms Inc. as an extremist organization and ban its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation," the statement said.

In addition, due to the evidence of crimes provided for in Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Propaganda of Terrorism) and Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Incitement of Hatred and Enmity, as well Abasement of Human Dignity), the Prosecutor General's Office sent materials to the Russian Investigative Committee to resolve the issue of criminal prosecution.
