MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. Five Russian universities have made it into the top 100 of the Round University Rankings evaluating the quality of teaching. Last year, Russia was represented by only three higher educational institutions in that category. Russia was placed second in the world this year in terms of overall representation.
Moscow State University has jumped ten positions up, taking 38th in terms of the quality of teaching. Tomsk State University was ranked 59th, also ten positions higher than last year’s 69th place. Besides, People’s Friendship University of Russia was placed 77th, while Saint Petersburg State University came in at 83rd. Finally, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI ranks 94th in terms of the quality of teaching.
The Round University Ranking is a world university rating published by the RUR Rankings Agency based in Moscow. For the past ten years, it has been evaluating the performance of 1,100 leading universities in 86 countries around the globe using 20 indicators in four key areas of university activities - the quality of teaching and research, international diversity and financial sustainability. Besides, it ranks universities by six subject areas - humanities, life sciences, medical sciences, natural sciences, as well as technical and social sciences.
