Court decision on Telegram messenger blocking comes into force

Moscow’s Tagansky court blocked access to the cloud-based instant messaging service Telegram in Russia over its failure to provide encryption keys to the Federal Security Service

MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. The decision of Moscow’s Tagansky court on blocking access to Telegram messenger on May 15 has come into force, according to information on the official website of Moscow’s courts.

"Date: 15.05.2018. State: came into force," the website said.

On April 13, Moscow’s Tagansky court blocked access to the cloud-based instant messaging service Telegram in Russia over its failure to provide encryption keys to the Federal Security Service. The court satisfied the lawsuit by Russia’s telecom watchdog filed on April 6. On April 16, telecom providers started the blocking procedure.

There is one month for appealing the court ruling starting the day of its adoption.
